Position Summary

We're looking for a dynamic Human Resources leader to join our team and provide leadership of our People Resources strategies. We would like to attract someone who has an understanding of the social services sector and is familiar with the trends that shape it. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager, Human Resources will be responsible for the execution and delivery of high-quality human resources programs, policies, procedures and HR business strategies supporting Community Living Hamilton.

The Manager, Human Resources, Helps Build Great Lives for the people we serve by providing leadership to the Human Resources and Scheduling teams while executing hands-on human resources functions of the organization. They will have accountabilities including but not limited to: recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, benefits administration, employee and labour relations, occupational health and safety, WSIB and disability management for Community Living Hamilton.

Responsibilities:

· Manages all aspects of the Human Resources function, including employee and labour relations, the performance management cycle (i.e. goal management, performance appraisals, succession planning), attendance awareness and disability management, benefit plan administration and current position descriptions.

· Experience as an HR Generalist would be an asset to facilitate oversight of all personnel transactions (promotions, transfers, terminations, change in status, change leadership, etc.).

· Oversight of the recruitment and selection of all staff to ensure that the best, competent and qualified candidates are hired, and that the candidates are provided equal treatment and legislative/policy requirements are adhered to.

· Provide leadership to the Human Resources and Scheduling teams

· Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization including, but not limited to Directors, colleagues and Union Representatives.

· Responsible for the employee/labour relation's function; researching legal issues, preparation of Community Living Hamilton's position on various issues and delivering responses to the applicable nonunion and union contacts.

· Provide guidance and support to employees regarding all employment related inquiries.

· Responsible for maintaining a connection with outside legal and professional resources to ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

· Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Labour Relations or Human Resource Management, Post-Graduate Human Resources Program Studies

· College Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources Management an asset

· Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or CHRL Candidate preferred.

· 5+ years of progressive Human Resources Leadership experience preferable within a unionized environment.

· Developmental Services Sector experience an asset.

· Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service.

· Demonstrated collaborative approach that values open and honest communication, integrity, respect, consistency and fairness.

· Excellent computer skills, in particular with MS Office applications and HRIS.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness and confidentiality concerning sensitive issues in a professional manner

· Exceptional communications skills: writing, editing, presentation, listening and interpersonal.

· Experience with balanced scorecard approach to strategic planning.
