THE ROLE

Reporting to the Controller and working closely with senior leadership, this role offers far more than traditional month-end responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, operational analysis, process improvements, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Month-End

• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and reporting packages
• Assist with external audit requirements and year-end deliverables
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information and internal controls

Analysis & Business Support

• Perform variance analysis and investigate trends impacting business performance
• Analyse costs, revenues, and operational data to identify opportunities and provide actionable recommendations
• Support leadership with financial insights that assist in strategic and operational decision-making
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business drivers and improve financial visibility

Operational Accounting & Continuous Improvement

• Support operational accounting activities, including areas such as job costing and equipment-related analysis
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the finance function
• Assist with systems enhancements and process improvement initiatives
• Contribute to ERP-related projects and organisational change initiatives

Growth & Strategic Initiatives

• Support acquisition integration activities and evolving reporting requirements
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as required
• Adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
• Take ownership of initiatives and proactively identify solutions to challenges

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a Senior Accountant capacity
• Experience within construction, heavy equipment, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, or similarly operational environments is highly preferred
• CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, financial reporting, and general accounting principles
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large datasets and perform meaningful analysis
• Experience with ERP systems; exposure to Dynamics NAV, Vista, or system implementations would be advantageous
• Naturally curious with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to partner with stakeholders across the organisation
• A hands-on approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves in a collaborative team environment
