CNC Operator

Our client is hiring a detail-oriented CNC Plasma Operator for their Bradford West Gwillimbury facility. In this role, you will set up, program, and operate Hypertherm plasma cutting tables to produce high-precision steel parts. You'll work from blueprints and work orders, perform in-process quality inspections, handle routine machine maintenance, and ensure compliance with all safety and production standards in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years operating Messer (or equivalent) CNC plasma / oxyfuel cutting tables
• Forklift and overhead-crane operator certification
• Familiarity with OHSA and R.S.O. 1990, C.O.1 regulations and strong safety record
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and GDT
• Strong understanding of multi-axis profile cutting
• Proficiency with on-console programming, nesting software, and basic machine maintenance
• Able to lift 25 kg regularly and handle repetitive motions
• Flexibility to work afternoon shifts and occasional weekend shifts

Responsibilities:

• Perform CNC machine setup tasks
• Load programs or manually enter simple part profiles
• Adjust cutting parameters (speed, feed rate, kerf offset, torch height) per work order
• Perform first-piece quality inspections and in-process checks using precision tools
• Record dimensions and flag out-of-tolerance parts for correction
• Change consumables (nozzles, shields, electrodes) and perform daily/weekly preventative maintenance
• Use forklift or crane to load/unload plate and finished parts
• Update stock levels in real time and ensure minimum consumable thresholds
• Coordinate with yard crew, welders, and other departments to plan workloads
