Job Summary:

The Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the reliable operation of machinery and equipment in a global automotive parts manufacturing company. By effectively planning and coordinating maintenance activities, they contribute to the company's productivity, profitability, and competitiveness.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Scheduling: Develop maintenance schedules for equipment, machinery, and facilities based on factors such as production schedules, equipment reliability, and maintenance requirements. This involves coordinating with production teams to minimize disruptions to operations while ensuring that maintenance tasks are completed on time.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Develop comprehensive preventive maintenance plans for all critical machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing process. This involves identifying the maintenance tasks required for each piece of equipment based on manufacturer recommendations, industry best practices, and historical maintenance data.
  • Work Order Management: Creates and prioritizes work orders for routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks. They assign tasks to maintenance technicians, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently, and that critical equipment receives timely attention. Maintain and update the CMS including work orders, inventory, and reporting.
  • Parts and Inventory Management: Maintains inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance activities. They identify and procure required parts and materials, ensuring that they are available when needed to minimize downtime and delays. Request quotes for spare parts from authorized suppliers / sub-contractors. Prepare annual budget estimates for parts and inventory for the plant.
  • Equipment Documentation: Maintains accurate records and documentation related to equipment maintenance, including maintenance histories, equipment manuals, spare parts lists, and maintenance procedures. This information is essential for tracking equipment performance, identifying recurring issues, and planning future maintenance activities.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensures that maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. They conduct safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement measures to mitigate risks to personnel and equipment.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzes maintenance data, including equipment performance metrics, downtime records, and maintenance costs, to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. They prepare reports and provide recommendations to management for optimizing maintenance processes and enhancing equipment reliability.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: College diploma, in either mechanical or electrical
  • Prior experience in maintenance, mechanical, or industrial engineering roles is highly desirable. This may include experience as a maintenance technician, maintenance supervisor, or related position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, including developing maintenance plans, scheduling maintenance activities, and performing maintenance tasks according to established procedures.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning principles, such as reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or total productive maintenance (TPM), and experience implementing these practices to optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Experience in automotive parts manufacturing or similar industries is beneficial, as it provides familiarity with industry-specific equipment, processes, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures is essential for understanding equipment specifications and maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment commonly used in automotive parts manufacturing, including stamping presses, machining centers, robotic systems, and conveyor systems.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or enterprise asset management (EAM) software for scheduling maintenance tasks, tracking equipment performance, and managing maintenance records.
  • Proficiency in using MS Excel and other MS Office desktop applications for communications.
