Position Summary
The Control Panel Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning industrial control panels and electrical systems. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, production, and field service teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Build and assemble industrial control panels according to electrical drawings and specifications.
Install components including PLCs, relays, contactors, VFDs, motor starters, terminal blocks, power supplies, and control devices.
Perform panel wiring and cable management in accordance with CSA and industry standards.
Conduct electrical continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing.
Verify wiring against electrical schematics and drawings.
Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
Utilize AutoCAD to review, update, and assist with electrical drawings and panel layouts.
Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
Follow company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma, Industrial Electrician license, Electrical Technician diploma, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience building and wiring industrial control panels.
Strong understanding of industrial electrical control systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience with PLC control systems and industrial automation equipment is considered an asset.
Proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
