Job Title: Material Planner
Job Description
The Material Planner develops and executes detailed material and production plans to support the master production schedule in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures materials are available when needed, maintains accurate inventory across multiple facilities, and collaborates closely with supply chain, production, and engineering teams to support on-time delivery and smooth implementation of changes.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed planning reports to ensure production departments meet or exceed the master production schedule.
- Proactively identify critical material shortages, communicate risks to internal stakeholders, and support the development of mitigation plans to protect the production schedule.
- Coordinate with the supply chain team on purchased items that affect the master production schedule or overall production plan.
- Release and review work orders in alignment with production plans, ensuring adequate material quantities are available to support manufacturing activities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to determine appropriate break-in points for engineering and manufacturing changes, minimizing disruption to ongoing production.
- Monitor and ensure inventory accuracy across multiple facilities through regular reporting, analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Incorporate new planning techniques, tools, and process improvements into daily workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Create, maintain, and update desktop procedures and documentation to standardize planning processes and support knowledge sharing.
Essential Skills
- Experience in production planning, production scheduling, or material planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Practical knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes and systems.
- Experience in supply chain, inventory management, or material management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and data management.
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably Oracle, for planning and material control.
- Ability to ensure and maintain high levels of inventory accuracy across multiple locations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal customers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in supply chain, materials, business, or any related field.
- Experience with materials planning, demand planning, supply planning or any supply chain planning environments.
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook for coordination and communication.
- Knowledge of APICS principles related to production and inventory control.
- APICS-related education, coursework, or certification in production and inventory control is an asset.
- Comfort working with continuous improvement initiatives and adopting new tools or techniques in planning processes.
Work Environment
This role is based on-site in an office setting within a manufacturing environment, working five days per week. The position supports production operations, requiring frequent interaction with manufacturing and supply chain teams and regular use of ERP systems such as Oracle, as well as tools like Microsoft Excel and Outlook. The work environment combines desk-based planning activities with close collaboration across departments to support a large-scale industrial operation. The opportunity is offered as a long-term contract with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.79 - $31.73/hr.
