FINANCE CLERK

JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME PERMANENT

WAGE: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00

Eagle Lake First Nation is seeking a Finance Clerk to support the Finance Department with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general financial administration.

The Finance Clerk helps ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and on time, while maintaining organized records and confidentiality. This position works closely with the Finance Manager, staff, vendors, and program areas to support strong financial accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Finance Clerk will:

  • Process vendor invoices, payments, purchase orders, and account coding.
  • Maintain organized accounts payable records and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Prepare invoices, record payments, make deposits, and maintain accounts receivable records.
  • Support payroll by entering approved timesheets, checking payroll information, and maintaining payroll files.
  • Assist with payroll deductions, pay stubs, ROEs, T4 preparation, and year-end reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial processes, including reconciliations and audit preparation.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Assist with bank deposits, cash counts, and petty cash reconciliation.
  • Follow financial policies, approval procedures, and internal controls.
  • Respond to routine finance, vendor, and payroll inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance Manager and Finance Department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should have:

  • Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 23 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, or financial administration.
  • Experience working in a First Nation, government, or non-profit finance setting is an asset.
  • Experience with Sage 300 is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting, payroll, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Reliability, consistency, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting or payroll software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily office-based position.
  • Regular computer and data entry work.
  • Requires attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Occasional travel for training, meetings, or work-related purposes may be required.
