HSE Coordinator

A growing Calgary-based General Contractor specializing in commercial and mixed-use residential construction is seeking an experienced Health Safety Environment Coordinator to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys being actively involved in construction operations, working closely with site teams, and helping drive a strong safety culture across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and maintain the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program.
- Manage and support COR certification requirements and ongoing compliance initiatives.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Lead new worker orientations and safety training programs.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and develop corrective action plans.
- Assist project teams with site-specific safety plans and documentation.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, provincial legislation, and industry best practices.
- Support supervisors and management in promoting safe work practices and positive safety engagement.
- Maintain safety records, reports, statistics, and regulatory documentation.
- Participate in safety meetings and provide guidance to field and office personnel.
Qualifications
- NCSO designation (or equivalent safety certification) preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a construction safety role.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and COR requirements.
- Experience working on active commercial, residential, or mixed-use construction projects.
- Strong incident investigation, inspection, and hazard assessment experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with both field and office teams.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital safety management systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites within the Calgary region.
