BelPak is currently seeking a Production Manager for its McPherson facility, located in Markham. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong mix of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, an ability to work with various computer programs (Microsoft Office, ERP), and a desire to take on new challenges in a fast-paced and exciting customer-focused environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage, supervise, and lead a multi-shift production facility;
  • Train and mentor staff to ensure policies, procedures, and quality requirements are met;
  • Ensure production targets are being achieved while maintaining efficient use of staff resources;
  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly reports are being completed and KPIs are being reviewed in accordance with company policies;
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement program for production to support the company's goals around improved costs and efficiencies;
  • Ensure that all reporting employees are completing their assigned duties while adhering to company policies and procedures. This includes Supervisors, Line Leaders, and Packaging Equipment Operators;
  • Enhance and develop policies, procedures, and systems to meet the goals of the facility;
  • Work with the Director of Operations or designate to ensure the operation is within its operating budget;
  • Interact with clients as necessary to develop and maintain a professional, positive, and cooperative relationship;
  • Handle and discuss production issues/problems with the Director of Operations or designate;
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, disciplining (while using HR department support), terminations, and performance evaluation of staff;
  • Train/instruct newly hired staff (Supervisors, Line Leaders, and Packaging Equipment Operators) and monitor their progress by signing off on their company-issued training program;
  • Ensure staff is accurately recording and completing all documentation related to production;
  • Manage day-to-day production employee vacation and absence tracking with the company staffing coordinator;
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety Rules and Regulations, along with proper investigation and reporting of all property violations;
  • Lead the Health and Safety Team in monthly meetings, and ensure that all findings are followed up and completed as required;
  • Ensure the staff maintain a clean and organized facility in accordance with Company standards;
  • Ensure all staff are adhering to all Quality Standards, GMP, and company policies and procedures;
  • Maintain the overall facility site log books as required by the Company's SOPs for various areas such as equipment, general maintenance, H&S, employee training, etc.;
  • Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent;
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility in a leadership role, preferably in a CPG, food, beverage, or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment;
  • Previous management experience;
  • Knowledge of distribution, inventory, and supply chain practices.

Key technical & behavioural competencies:

  • Previous experience with SAP or other ERP software systems considered an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel;
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities;
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, short lead-times, and adjust priorities in a professional manner;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
