Job Title: Junior Accountant
Location: St. Johns, NL
Position Type: 1 full-time position

Reporting tothe Senior Director of Finance, HR, and IT, theJuniorAccountantsupportsfinancial operations byassistingwith data accuracy,reporting, reconciliations, and daily accounting tasks.Works under guidance to helpmaintainfinancial records, contribute to reporting processes, and support budgeting, project tracking, and audits.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and DataSupport
- Assistwith preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and basic dashboards
- Maintainaccuratefinancial data in Sage 300 and Excel
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Helpmonitorcash flow and flag variances or discrepancies
- Ensure data is organized and aligned with internal policies
Project Accounting and GrantsSupport
- Assistin tracking income and expenses for projects and grants
- Help ensure transactions are coded correctly andcomply withfunding requirements
- Support reconciliations andmaintaindocumentation for audits
- Work with program teams to gather required financial information
Budgeting and ForecastingSupport
- Assistin preparing budgets and forecasts
- Monitor actuals vs. budget and helpidentifyvariances
- Update tracking sheets and support financial planningprocesses
Operational and Audit Support
- Perform routine checks in Sage 300 for data accuracy
- Assistwith audit preparation by organizing supporting documentation
- Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite withexpertisein data management for financial reporting through Excel and accounting platforms such as SAGE Accounting
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, standards,lawsand regulations isrequired
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) would be an asset
- Proficiencyin project budgeting and management
- Experience in financial statement preparation and stakeholder reporting
- Knowledge of Finance and Project Management
- Strong communicationskills, adept at conveying complex financial concepts to stakeholders
- Collaboration skills with all staffing levels and external funders, organizational and time management skills arerequired
Conditions of Employment:
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
