Position: Staff Data Engineer / Data Architect (Azure / Databricks)
Location: Oshawa, ON (3 days remote)
Structure: Contract 12 months to start
Pay:$90.00 - $100.00 p/h inc. + HST

We have a great new opportunity to support one of our Energy Sector clients in a contract capacity!

Deliverables
- Lead the architecture, design, and governance of enterprise data lakehouse, data warehouse, and analytics solutions, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms that support business intelligence, reporting, advanced analytics, and digital products.
- Design and oversee implementation of modular ELT/ETL pipelines, common data models, semantic layers, and reusable architecture patterns that enable a trusted, enterprise-wide single source of truth.
- Establish data architecture standards, modeling frameworks, orchestration strategies, security controls, metadata management, and governance practices across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data environments.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, architecture reviews, proof-of-concept development, production design approvals, and strategic guidance to Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, and Solution Architects.
Experience Required
- 68+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Enterprise Data Modeling within large-scale Big Data environments.
- Deep expertise designing enterprise data models, dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas), common data models, semantic layers, and scalable cloud-based data platforms using Azure and Databricks.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Purview, and Power BI.
- Experience designing event-driven, streaming, near-real-time, and batch data processing solutions, including ingestion, orchestration, performance optimization, security, access management, and data cataloging.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related discipline, with strong leadership, architecture governance, stakeholder engagement, and Agile delivery experience.
