Job Title: Cook
Position Type: Temporary Full-Time (3-Month Contract) with possibility of extension
Location: Prince George
Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks for residents in accordance with approved menus, dietary requirements, food safety regulations, and facility policies. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive dining experience while maintaining high standards of sanitation and resident-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals, snacks, and special diets according to standardized recipes and menu plans.
- Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and served in compliance with therapeutic and dietary requirements.
- Maintain food quality, temperature control, and presentation standards.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention protocols.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
- Assist with menu implementation and accommodate resident preferences where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with dietary aides, supervisors, and healthcare team members.
- Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, and safety concerns promptly.
- Comply with applicable provincial regulations, facility policies, and occupational health and safety standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized Cook Training Program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Food Handling Certificate
- Experience preparing meals in institutional, healthcare, hospitality, or long-term care settings.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary requirements for seniors.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions
