Dream is looking for a Building Operator (Bilingual)!
Dream Office REIT is currently looking for a Building Operator who is ready to work hard, understands the importance of excellent customer service, and is self-motivated and willing to learn.
Who are you? There's a lot happening at Dream's ZIBI Development, and it's happening fast. Are you passionate, dedicated, and highly analytical? Do you love working with people? If so, read on. We want to hear from you.
Over the 5+ years you've worked as a building operator, you've proven that you are not afraid to think outside the box to find the best approach to achieve results. You are proactive, leading by example rather than sitting back. You consider the bigger picture when focusing on new initiatives, and you thrive on driving improvement and efficiency.
We want to bring on someone who is eager to learn, work hard, and have fun. In other words, we want you to fit in here. This is an opportunity for you to take on responsibilities, build on your already strong skill set, and help your team achieve its goals, all in a work environment that is fast-paced, dynamic, and fun.
What will you do?Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person:
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems and facilities.
- Complete tenant service calls such as changing lights, heating/cooling calls, etc., in a professional manner.
- Oversee the appearance and safety of the property.
- Operate Building Automation and Security computer systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions/recommendations.
- Oversee contractors and ensure they abide by building guidelines.
- Communicate with Operations Supervisor/Property Management on building and tenant issues.
- Maintain maintenance and daily logs of equipment.
- Contact suppliers, obtain quotes, and order materials/supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
There are also some physical requirements associated with this job. Here are some of the fun things we'll need you to confirm you can do:
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- Bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, and reaching.
- Jumping in your vehicle to respond to emergency calls in the development.
- Move and lift heavy equipment and supplies.
- A combination of walking, standing, and sitting (there won't be too much sitting at all, so don't worry about getting restless).
These are only some of the things we'd like you to bring to the table. We can cover the rest when we meet:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance.
- Valid driver's license.
- You have your own vehicle – the Zibi Development is approximately 34 acres, and movement between the different sections is required daily.
- 5+ years of experience in building operations.
- You've gained your experience in a commercial/office/retail environment.
- You have completed/are enrolled in your Operator Class 5 Certificate.
- You are familiar with safety and fire codes and WHMIS procedures.
- You are proactive in finding problems and solving them.
- You are a team player but can work on your own.
- Your computer and communication skills are above par.
Situated on the banks of the Ottawa River, Zibi is located in both the City of Ottawa and the City of Gatineau, something that has never been done before. In Ottawa, Zibi rests on the western edge of downtown, consists of both the Chaudière and Albert Islands, and is surrounded by the Ottawa River. These islands are physically disconnected from both cities by the river and present an opportunity to create a unique sense of place amongst the heritage buildings on both islands. In Gatineau, the lands are within the downtown core of the city and provide an opportunity to extend the city out to the banks of the river.
Through this multi-phase development, we will transform the derelict land into a blend of residential housing types of low and high-rise condominium towers and townhomes, commercial and office space, unique waterfront plazas and outdoor squares, recreational facilities, and more. Truly one-of-a-kind, Zibi combines unparalleled views of the Ottawa River, Parliament Hill, Chaudière Falls, and downtown Ottawa and Gatineau skylines framed by a modern architectural design that still respects the heritage of the area. Zibi is where nature, culture, heritage, and the joys of life culminate.
