Job Title: Educator-RN
Department: Clinical
Status: Full-Time, Mon- Fri
Location: Victoria, BC
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Educator is responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating clinical education programs for nursing staff and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The role supports excellence in patient care through evidence-based education, mentorship, competency development, and professional practice leadership.
The RN Educator collaborates with leadership teams, frontline staff, and healthcare stakeholders to enhance clinical knowledge, promote best practices, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards and organizational policies.
Responsibilities:
- Assess learning and competency needs of nursing staff and healthcare teams.
- Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs, workshops, and clinical training initiatives.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and support to new hires, preceptors, and nursing staff.
- Facilitate orientation programs and continuing professional development activities.
- Develop educational materials, clinical resources, and evidence-based learning tools.
- Support quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives.
- Coordinate in-service sessions and competency assessments.
- Promote best practices aligned with provincial healthcare standards and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify educational priorities and improve patient outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate education and competency records.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, allied health professionals, managers, and academic partners.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support accreditation readiness and compliance initiatives.
- Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and patient safety programs.
- Analyze clinical trends and identify educational gaps.
- Collaborate on policy development and implementation of best practices.
- Assist with incident reviews and staff education following clinical events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the
British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–5 years of recent clinical nursing experience.
- Experience in adult education, staff development, or clinical instruction.
- Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice and quality improvement principles.
