Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a well-established heavy civil construction company specializing in drilling & blasting, mass excavation, pipe and underground utilities, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire a CAD Technician to join our growing team in the HRM. This role is primarily office-based supporting our surveying department with drafting, design and project coordination, while also assisting with field surveying when required.
Requirements
- Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technician, or a related field considered an asset.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Carlson, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent required.
- Experience with Robotic Total Station, GNSS survey equipment, and Trimble Access preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications.
- Consistently work in a safe & efficient manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver License.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain detailed CAD drawings for heavy civil construction projects.
- Process and manage survey data collected from GPS and Total Station equipment.
- Assist field crews with survey calculations, staking information, and project coordination.
- Provide control lines and elevations required for accurate measurements and correct installation of materials.
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and survey crews to support project requirements.
- Maintain organized records of drawings, survey files, and project documentation.
- Perform quality control checks on survey and drafting deliverables.
- Other duties as required.
