About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established general contractor with a strong presence across Western Canada and an active project portfolio in Edmonton. They deliver complex commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, recreation, and multi-family projects, and are looking to add an experienced Site Superintendent to support continued growth.
This is a strong opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys leading from site, coordinating trades, driving schedule, maintaining safety standards, and delivering high-quality projects with the support of an experienced project team.
The Role
The Site Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of construction activities on site. This role will oversee site operations, trade coordination, schedule execution, safety, quality, logistics, inspections, and communication with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
You will work closely with the Project Manager and senior operations leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily site operations from mobilization through construction, close-out, and final handover.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site staff, inspections, deliveries, and construction activities.
Manage the construction schedule at site level and ensure work is planned, sequenced, and executed effectively.
Review drawings, specifications, site instructions, RFIs, and project documentation to support accurate field execution.
Maintain strong communication with the Project Manager, consultants, trades, suppliers, and client representatives.
Identify site issues early and work proactively with the project team to resolve them.
Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, safety discussions, and coordination meetings as required.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality expectations, and project requirements.
Support change management by identifying field changes, impacts, delays, and required documentation.
Take ownership of site safety, ensuring policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are followed.
Maintain daily reports, site records, progress updates, deficiency lists, and other required documentation.
Promote a professional, organized, and safety-first site culture.
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years of site supervision experience with a general contractor.
Experience delivering commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, recreation, multi-family, or similar construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, site logistics, safety, quality, and schedule management.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction documents.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage trades, resolve site issues, and maintain accountability.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Trade background, technical diploma, construction management education, or equivalent field experience will be considered.
Experience working on larger or more complex construction projects is an asset.
