Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Performing laboratory chemical and physical analyses of raw materials, in process and finished product (animal fats, veg shortening as per AOCS methods and Laboratory procedures outlined in the Laboratory manual).

· Perform the inspection of manufacturing product, inspection of taking product sampling for microbiology test, checking, verification of pH on the protein line.

· Perform the inspection of sanitation in the line for pre-operation, monitor deviation, follow the corrective action process.

· Preparing samples to test as per environmental & water testing, finished product for microbiology testing and when required, send samples to an accredited external laboratory.

· Receiving samples from the production staff.

·Collecting/retrieving samples from the production floor/production staff if samples are not provided to the laboratory in a timely manner.

· Reviewing COA's of incoming product for acceptability / prepare COAs for finished products to customers.

· Placing non-compliant product on HOLD and completing proper documentation and follow-up.

· Performing monitoring, deviation, verification procedures of HACCP; GMPS & CCP controls.

· Ensuring by monitoring that all plant employee(s), contractor personnel and visitor(s) are following GMPs, biosecurity and overall food safety practices,

· Training plant employees on GMPs and HACCP monitoring, sanitation, shipping/receiving, deviation and verification activities; maintaining training logs.

· Performing quality assurance checks throughout the plant and documenting non-compliance.

· Conducting quality checks on the lines of animal fats, veg shortening including, but not limited to labels, weights, metal detector (where applicable).

· Calculating amounts of additives required and documenting preparation.

· Liaison with other departments (production, shipping/receiving, maintenance, sales, and customer service) to ensure that the product that BBSI is producing meets all customers' specifications. Testing samples as per sales department request.

· Assisting QA Manager in following up on customer complaints.

· Implementing new lab procedures and writing methodologies as per QA Manager's request.

· Participating in third party audits, preparing all necessary documentation and information required. As well as preparing all departments for these audits and following-up on requested corrective actions.

· Conducting mock recalls as required. Maintaining retained samples for retrieval and all documents as per SOP. Completing all documents on his/her shift.

· Responsible for ensuring lab instrumentation maintenance and calibration is done.

· Operating all lab equipment in a manner to ensure the safety of employees, equipment's, and process. Knowledge of troubleshooting in lab equipment.

· Calibrating equipment in the facility as per calibration schedule.

· Performing and following other duties as QA Technician task assigned by a Supervisor or Manager.

· Immediately notify Supervisor or Manager or Maintenance of equipment and/or maintenance issues giving clear description of issue for the lab equipment or witness to the production area or another concern.

· Always represents the Company in a professional manner.
