The Spirit of the Position:

Position Summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating shuttle operations at Sacramento International Airport to ensure safe, timely, and efficient transportation service. This role serves as the communication hub between drivers, supervisors, and management, monitoring real-time operations, addressing service needs, and resolving issues to maintain service quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor shuttle operations and track vehicle locations across all routes.
  • Dispatch shuttles based on service demand, and operational priorities.
  • Communicate clearly with Shuttle Drivers using a two-way radio to provide direction, updates, and support.
  • Respond to transit calls, service delays, and customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track and coordinate driver breaks to ensure consistent route coverage.
  • Log shuttle activity including pickup calls, complaints, trip data, and service patterns.
  • Record and report mechanical issues, coordinating vehicle maintenance requests as required.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and complete reporting as required.
  • Act as a central communication point between drivers, operations, and other departments.
  • Monitor ongoing operations and escalate issues as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support related to shuttle operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 13 years of dispatch, customer service, or related experience (experience in transportation or shuttle operations is an asset, but not required).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Proficiency in French is considered a significant asset; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use communication tools (e.g., radios, phonetic alphabet, phone systems, and basic computer applications).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accurately complete data entry and maintain logs, records, and reports in a timely and organized manner.
  • Comfortable answering phones and coordinating requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Consistently follows company policies, procedures, and safety standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to use computers, radios, and phones continuously throughout the shift.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
