About the Role

The Accountant is responsible for month-end activities, which include preparing account reconciliations and journal entries, and assisting in the delivery of accurate and timely management reports and analysis. The Accountant will also support internal control compliance and other accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.

What You'll Do

  • Exercise discretion and integrity always, supporting all financial policies and procedures, and complying with all financial, legal, and other requirements and controls;
  • Perform accounting duties in a timely manner, including but not limited to invoicing and soft collections, GST/PST filing, basic ledger accounting, basic variance analysis, general support;
  • Reconcile general, credit card, and bank accounts by gathering and balancing information;
  • Collect/enter data for KPIs and analysis purposes, as directed;
  • Process payments for management approval;
  • Participate in educational opportunities & read professional publications to update job skills;
  • Other duties and special projects as may be assigned by the Director of Finance

What You Bring

  • A combination of relevant education an experience, typically 1-3 years;
  • Purpose and cooperative nature able to work in a team environment, with respect for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational skills in terms of understanding process, priorities and follow through;
  • Good work ethic & drive to meet and exceed commitments, coupled with business integrity;
  • Common sense solution-building skills are an asset;
  • Effective written and verbal communication;
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy;
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications, especially MS Excel and MS Word;
  • Experience with QuickBooks and any ERP is an asset.
