The Shore Restaurant, located in the charming community of Jordan, ON, is a place where culinary artistry meets breathtaking ambiance and lake views.
Position Summary:
The Cook 2 is responsible for assisting the Cook 1, Chef de Partie and Sous Chef, in food preparation, cooking, and plating. This position requires frequent standing, walking, and lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and working in a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare, cook, and plate food items and present as per the chef's directions.
- Ensure the quality and presentation of all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant's standards.
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization.
- Must be able to work confidently in any designated station (garde manger or pizza) as needed with a high performance.
- Assist with preparations of other stations as needed.
- Follow health and safety regulations and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely service and coordination during meal periods.
- Required to exercise judgment in following recipes, maintaining food quality, and assisting in resolving kitchen conflicts.
- The Cook 2 is responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization and addressing any food-related concerns or complaints in a professional manner.
- Adapt to special dietary needs and restrictions as required.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in fast-paced kitchens preferred.
- A degree or diploma in culinary arts, skills, or management is an asset.
- Chef's certificate-apprenticeship program-culinary training. (Preferred)
- Strong communication skills.
- Food Handling Certificate.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
