The Opportunity – Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Professional
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Professional to join our Calgary, Alberta office. The successful candidate will serve as a project management leader: working directly with watershed and water resource clients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to business development efforts across Alberta and Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute projects in the areas of Watershed Management, Water Resources Strategy and Integrated Planning.
- Regularly engage with clients on all project matters for the full project life cycle.
- Responsible for project controls and internal systems.
- Plan workshops and lead facilitated meetings and group conversations.
- Lead project teams of junior and / or technical resources.
- Prioritize and delegate assignments.
- Support proposal development as requested.
- Engage in client development and management supported by local offices
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental sciences. Master's degree in a related discipline preferred.
- Professional Engineer or Environmental Professional
- 7-10 years' experience, including at least 5 years project management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail
- Superior technical writing skills
- Experience and confidence in meeting facilitation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Alberta regulatory frameworks, water licensing and water-related Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and cascading regulations.
- Experience in an engineering consulting organization a significant asset
