Accounting Specialist – HVAC Industry

We are a growing accounting firm that specializes in providing accounting, advisory, and financial management services to home service businesses. Our clients are primarily HVAC contractors, and we help them improve profitability, cash flow, operational performance, and financial visibility through accurate accounting and industry-specific expertise.

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist who enjoys working directly with business owners, understands the unique financial challenges of service-based businesses, and wants to build a career in a client-focused environment.

Position Summary

The accounting specialist will be responsible for managing the accounting functions of multiple HVAC and home service clients. This role requires strong accounting fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful insights for business owners.

This is an in-office position that works closely with our accounting and advisory team to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books and records for multiple client accounts.
• Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Complete month-end and year-end close procedures.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
• Analyze financial performance and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding financial results and accounting matters.
• Assist with process improvements and implementation of best practices.
• Collaborate with senior team members on advisory and consulting engagements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience working in a public accounting firm
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with HVAC contractors or other home service businesses.
• Knowledge of job costing, service agreements, inventory tracking, and operational KPIs common in the HVAC industry.
• Experience using ServiceTitan.
• Experience with cloud-based accounting technologies and workflow management systems.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has experience in both public accounting and the HVAC industry. They understand how service businesses operate, are comfortable working directly with business owners, and can provide accurate financial information that helps clients make informed decisions.

Bonus points if you have hands-on experience with ServiceTitan and understand how operational data connects to financial reporting and profitability.
