Position Summary:

Reporting to theCabinet Shop Manager,theCabinetFinisherwillberesponsible forsurface preparation, applying stains,paintsandtopcoatsto a variety of woods and veneers, colour matching, and using/maintainingthe spray booth.

This individual is knowledgeable in all aspects of finishing with an emphasis on quality and consistency. The Cabinet Finisher willbe responsible for knowing and practicing safe working methods andpossessa strong knowledge of shop practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, qualitycontroland safety equipment. Dedication to quality craftsmanship is essential in this role. This position will alsobe responsible formaintaininga clean and tidy work area andassistingin conducting regular maintenance of tools and machinery. Other duties may beassignedas necessary.

Job Duties:

• Applying stains, glazing, primer, tinted lacquer, and lacquers

• Sanding of materials between coats

• Touching up finished materials to ensure consistent tone and appearance

• Understanding proper product drying and curing times

• Maintaining sprayer, sprayboothand all finishing equipment

• Changing exhaust fans and spray booth filters asrequired

• Storing finishing materials properly and safely

• Gathering specifications from samples, clients, and/or the design team

• Estimating and preparing materials required for production

• Repairing and refinishing damaged, incorrect, or previously finished pieces

• Operatingandmaintainingtools and equipment.

• Keepinga daily log of tasks.

• Contributingandparticipatingin the effective use of the Quality Control System.

• Using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times

• Performing other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is notrequiredand workremainswithin personal skill limitations

• Understanding andcomplying withall company policies and procedures

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area free from sawdust and debris between tasks and at the end of each day

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Advanced knowledge of spray finishing techniques.

• Knowledge of spray equipment and spray booth operation and maintenance

• Experience in wood staining,paintingand finishing.

• Knowledge of the use of conversion varnish, lacquers,paintsand glazes

• Basic knowledge of carpentry.

• Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.

• Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.

• First Aid and CPRcertificationis an asset

• Ability tooperaterequired equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

• Ability to read building specifications and blueprints

Work Conditions:

• Hours of work: 44 hours per week; Mon to Thurs 7:30am-5:00pm and Fri 7:30am-4:00pm. One 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute breaks are provided per shift. Hours of work are subject to seasonal changes and variations caused by workload or other circumstances.
