Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is looking for a dedicated Safety Administrator to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation and administration of our company's health and safety programs. Based out of our Edmonton office, the Safety Administrator will provide integral administrative support to the Health and Safety Department and contribute to the company's commitment to a strong safety culture.

The successful candidate will work closely with safety advisors, and field teams to manage documentation, training records, compliance reporting, and assist in coordinating safety initiatives across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate new hire/rehire orientations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized health and safety records, including training logs, certifications, incident reports, and safety audits.
  • Coordinate and schedule safety training sessions and orientations for employees and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of safety compliance reports required by regulatory bodies.
  • Support the Health and Safety team in the development and maintenance of safety documentation, including policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Monitor and track Workers' Compensation (WCB) claims and associated documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding safety documentation and compliance.
  • Manage correspondence related to safety administration and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Assist in coordinating safety meetings and preparing minutes and follow-up action items.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Health and Safety, Office Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a safety administrative role, preferably within construction or heavy civil industries.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with safety management software is an asset.
  • Understanding of OH&S regulations and safety program requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license is an asset.
