EllisDon Facilities Services (EDFS) specializes in infrastructure and asset maintenance, operations, and management. We optimize an asset's efficiency, in order to maximize lifecycle and minimize costs and we never stop looking for new ways to improve. We service many market sectors healthcare, educational, judicial, residential, hospitality, recreational, and beyond. Our deep understanding of constructability, infrastructure, and technology means we can both operate and maintain assets efficiently and bring in other services to further extend the long-term lifecycle of an asset.

Here at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, we provide food services for the main centre, as well as our Long Term Care Facility, Royal Ottawa Place.

You as a Casual Dietary Aide at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre will be:

  • Responsible for preparation and re-thermalization of meals, and therapeutic diet delivery to patients and cafeteria patrons while following applicable policies and procedures
  • Operating and maintaining meal preparation and service equipment used to perform day to day work in a safe and correct manner
  • Responsible for replenishing stock and supplies, sanitary and safe handling of food and completing nourishment labels
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment
  • Liaising with customers and co-workers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner to ensure service satisfaction
  • Performing other duties as assigned or requested consistent with the job classification

Is this the right role for you?

  • Grade 12 education
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Preference given to those with the Food Service Worker Certificate, Culinary Skills Certificate, or Culinary Management Diploma, or those who are enrolled in these programs
  • Experience in food service settings would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of WHMIS
  • Knowledge of HACCP
  • Good English communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and distribution techniques
  • Proven ability to work well both independently and within a team
  • Ability to independently assess, prioritize and adjust daily duties in accordance with unit/department activity
  • A background check will be conducted by the Hospital upon job offer
  • The hourly rate of pay is $27.82
  • Weekend and holiday availability is necessary.
