We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Lab Assistant to support our compounding pharmacy operations in Parkdale. This role plays a critical part in preparing customized medications, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

In addition to what makes you unique, there are a few basics that we require for this role:

Required:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in pharmacy or technical field preferred.
  2. Previous experience as a pharmacy assistant or compounding experience is an asset.
  3. Basic understanding of pharmacy operations and medication handling.
  4. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  6. Comfortable using computers and automated systems.
  7. Good communication and teamwork skills.
  8. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  9. Ability to workdays, evenings and weekends as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and compounding of medications under the supervision of the pharmacy team
  • Weigh, measure, organize, and mix active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients accurately
  • Maintain detailed compounding logs, batch records, and labelling documentation
  • Ensure compliance with NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding and provincial regulations
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain laboratory equipment and cleanroom environments in accordance with Good Compounding Practices (GCPs)
  • Perform quality control checks, including verifying ingredients and quantities prior to compounding
  • Receive, inspect, and manage inventory of raw materials and supplies
  • Properly dispose of pharmaceutical waste following environmental and regulatory guidelines
  • Follow all workplace health and safety protocols, including appropriate use of PPE
  • Support pharmacy teams and collaborate with healthcare professionals on compounded product solutions
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, laboratory, or healthcare environment is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to follow strict protocols and maintain high compliance standards
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
