North West Rubber Ltd.,was founded in 1968 in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada.

In the late 60s and early 70s, the company picked up scrap tires and buffings from the local area, ground them up, and manufactured rubber mats. These mats were purchased for use in horse and dairy stalls, ice rinks, gyms, and pick-up truck beds. Over the years, the business has grown and changed from a small, regional manufacturer of crude rubber products to a leading, global recycled rubber manufacturer.

Today, North West Rubber is one of the largest rubber mat manufacturers in the world. The company owns and operates manufacturing facilities in Canada (British Columbia, Ontario, & Quebec), in the USA (Texas), and in China. Their products are distributed all over the world.

Summary:

The Mat Maker is responsible for the manufacturing of quality rubber mats and adhering to the safety and work process procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows safe work-place procedures and wears mandatory Personal Protective Equipment where required
  • Shovelling and screeding of rubber dust using proper techniques
  • Placing the mats on correct pallets with accurate tag information
  • Proper nesting of molds
  • Proper operation of overhead crane-hoist & its control
  • Ensure mold stacks are centered on the machine table
  • Blow out all crunchies from molds
  • Blow off machines & mat stacks thoroughly, every time
  • Remove full pallets to outside with care
  • Maintain current targets for production
  • Maintain 3.5% or less for absenteeism rate
  • Consistently keep work area tidy
  • Constructively contribute to team environment
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Forklift & Bobcat training
  • Must be able to perform shift-work that rotates throughout the week including weekends (4 shifts on, 2 days off, repeat)
  • Must be able to endure physical labour and repetitive tasks
  • Must have positive and respectful behaviours
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Must be flexible and adaptable
  • Must provide own CSA approved steel-toed footwear
