Harbour Construction is looking for an experienced Foreman to join our civil construction team.

This is a leadership role for someone who understands civil construction, knows how to lead crews safely and productively, and takes pride in delivering quality work.

Our projects include underground utilities, watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, road construction, excavation, grading, and site development throughout Nova Scotia. As a Foreman, you will be responsible for leading crews, coordinating daily operations, managing equipment and resources, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate civil construction crews on active project sites
  • Plan and organize daily work activities to meet production goals
  • Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
  • Read and interpret drawings, grades, and project specifications
  • Oversee underground utility installation, excavation, and earthworks activities
  • Monitor project progress and communicate with Superintendents and Project Managers
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure safe work practices are followed
  • Maintain project documentation including daily reports, safety documentation, and production records
  • Mentor and develop crew members while promoting a positive team environment

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of civil construction supervisory experience or equivalent leadership experience within the industry
  • Experience leading crews on underground utility, watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, roadwork, or site development projects
  • Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, grading, and utility installation
  • Proven ability to manage crews, equipment, and daily site operations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License

Assets

  • Experience managing crews of 6 or more employees
  • First Aid Certification
  • WHMIS Training
  • Confined Space Training
  • Trenching & Excavation Training
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyJob or similar construction management software
