Job Title: Lead Hand / Driver - Hinton/RimbeyPosition Summary
The Lead Hand / Driver is responsible for supporting daily operations by leading a small team while safely operating company vehicles, including a League NSC truck. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on work ethic, and proven experience in commercial driving and logistics.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and drive a League NSC truck in compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards
- Lead by example on-site, providing direction and support to crew members
- Coordinate daily work assignments and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate logs and documentation
- Ensure proper loading, securing, and unloading of materials
- Monitor job progress and communicate updates to supervisors
- Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and operational efficiency
- Assist with training and mentoring new or junior staff
- Troubleshoot minor issues in the field and escalate concerns when needed
- Valid driver's licence with ability to operate a League NSC truck (NSC compliance required)
- Ground Disturbance Level II certification (required)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a driving and/or field operations role
- Previous leadership or lead hand experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations and best practices
- Clean driver's abstract with a strong safety record
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic vehicle inspections
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Overtime and flexible hours may be required based on operational needs
