Avantages :
As an Inside Sales Support Representative, you will manage and support an assigned book of existing customer and supplier accounts for a vertically integrated metal recycler. This is an inside, office-based account-support role — you will be the day-to-day point of contact for your accounts, coordinating activity across operations, dispatch, purchasing, and finance, and partnering with the outside sales team to keep accounts running smoothly. This role does not carry a sales quota and is not responsible for new business development or prospecting; it is a behind-the-scenes, detail-driven role focused on service, accuracy, and account retention. Your accounts span Southern Ontario, while the role itself is based on-site in Hamilton, Ontario, five days per week. This is an expansion role on a growing team, reporting to the Manager of the Account Management team. The base salary is $60,000 – $63,000 CAD, plus a discretionary annual bonus.
Compensation & Benefits
$60,000 – $63,000 CAD base salary, plus a discretionary annual bonus tied to personal and company performance
Bonus only — this role does not carry commission
Estimated total compensation: base salary plus the discretionary annual bonus on top
Health benefits (partially company-funded)
RRSP matching program
Laptop and cell phone provided
Business expense account
Employee recognition, gifts, and rewards program
Further education reimbursement
Company social events
15 vacation days, 2 sick days, and 2 personal days, plus the company Christmas shutdown
Formal performance reviews annually
Company fleet vehicles available for occasional customer visits (no personal vehicle allowance)
Strong career path — this role touches nearly every department and has launched many careers into management and leadership
The Company & Culture
Our client is a family-owned metal recycler with approximately 90 years in business, and is the largest privately held company in its industry. The company is in a scale-up stage, growing 25–50% per year. It employs roughly 3,000 people across North America, with about 500 at the Hamilton, Ontario operation where this role is based. The company is fully vertically integrated across its ferrous, non-ferrous, retail, and transportation divisions, with an in-house transportation fleet significantly larger than its competitors — allowing it to control the full materials lifecycle from collection through processing and shipping.
The culture is built on four pillars: Passion & Excellence, Teamwork & Collaboration, Agility & Innovation, and Community Engagement. Leadership is data-driven and hands-on. Employees describe strong room for growth, a stable but still-developing organization, and clear industry leadership. This is a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly, and candidates should be comfortable working that way.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Experience, Background & Education Requirements
1–3 years of experience in account management, customer service, logistics coordination, or industrial operations
Exceptional attention to detail — the single most important requirement for this role; errors in this business can be costly
Strong organizational and multitasking ability, with the capacity to manage multiple accounts at once
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine customer-service orientation
Comfortable working five days per week on-site at the Hamilton office
Post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience (a degree is not required)
Industry exposure to metal recycling, waste management, transportation, or manufacturing is an asset but not required — the company will train the right candidate on the industry
Backgrounds in high-volume, customer-facing service environments (for example, hospitality/hotel or equipment rental) are relevant and have succeeded in this role
Please note: this is an inside, office-based account-support role with no sales quota and no new business development. Candidates seeking an outside, quota-carrying, hunting sales role should be aware this position is not that
A driver's licence is an asset for occasional fleet-vehicle customer visits but is not a core requirement
Technical Skills
Salesforce or other CRM software — an asset
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) — standard proficiency required
The Product / Service / Solution
Ferrous metal recycling
Non-ferrous metal recycling
Retail and public scrap operations
In-house transportation and logistics
Vertically integrated processing — collection, processing, pricing, and shipping of recycled metals
Prospective Customers / Industry Focus / Decision Maker(s)
Existing customer and supplier accounts that buy from and sell scrap and metal to the company
Accounts located across Southern Ontario
Account contacts range from individual suppliers to larger industrial and commercial accounts
You will be the primary day-to-day contact for these accounts and the first line of defence on account issues, pulling in the outside sales team when needed
Sales Cycle / Order Value / Account Size
This is an account-management and support role, not a transactional or deal-based sales role
The focus is ongoing, repeat account activity — coordinating shipments, pricing updates, records, and issue resolution for an assigned book of accounts
Success is measured by service quality, accuracy, and account retention rather than new-deal quotas
Competitive Advantages
Full vertical integration across ferrous, non-ferrous, retail, and transportation divisions
In-house transportation fleet significantly larger than competitors, allowing control of the full materials lifecycle
Approximately 90 years in business and the largest privately held company in its industry
Family ownership with a stable, long-term operating model and strong year-over-year growth
Typical Day & Duties
50% Account Management — managing and maintaining assigned customer and supplier accounts; monitoring account activity, reporting metrics, and service levels
30% Customer Service — serving as the primary contact for account inquiries, service requests, and issue resolution; resolving discrepancies related to shipments, pricing, weights, or payments
20% Administrative & Coordination — maintaining accurate records of transactions, scale tickets, and invoices; coordinating with operations, dispatch, purchasing, and finance
0% New Business Development — this role does not prospect and does not carry a sales quota
On a typical day you will respond to account inquiries, monitor and communicate market pricing updates, keep transaction and shipment records accurate, coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues, and escalate to the outside sales team when needed.
Leads
This is an account-support role — there is no prospecting, cold calling, or lead generation
You will manage an existing, assigned book of customer and supplier accounts
Account activity comes from established relationships and ongoing business, not from outbound prospecting
Overnight Travel
None
Occasional local on-site customer visits only (for example, year-end customer clean-ups or taking site photos), using company fleet vehicles — not part of regular day-to-day work
Support & Training
Structured onboarding: the first 3–6 months are spent learning the business from the ground up, including time in the yard across all divisions (ferrous, non-ferrous, retail, and transportation) to understand how material moves, is processed, priced, and shipped
You will begin handling assigned accounts under guidance as training progresses
By year two, you will independently own and manage a full set of accounts
Paired training: two people are being hired together and will train as a pair (buddy system)
Ongoing mentorship from the Manager of the Account Management team
Why You Should Apply
Approximately 90-year, family-owned business and the largest privately held company in its industry, growing 25–50% per year
Exceptional career runway — this role touches nearly every department, and the ground-level training it provides has launched many careers into management and leadership, including a VP, a commercial manager, a service manager, and regional yard managers
Paired training and a supportive, team-based environment
Strong benefits package — partially company-funded health benefits, RRSP matching, education reimbursement, and more
Stable, on-site role with predictable Monday-to-Friday daytime hours
