Onstream Pipeline Inspection is a leading provider of Inline and Tethered Magnetic Flux Leakage, Caliper, and Inertial Measurement inspection services for oil and gas pipeline operators across North America.

Join Our Team as a Shop Technician. Are you a detailed orientation technician with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude? We are seeking a Shop Technician to play an essential support role in our Calgary operations. In this role, you will contribute directly to the mechanical and electrical preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our specialized inline inspection (ILI) tools.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical skill, a proactive work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining safe, efficient shop operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on pipeline inspection tools and support equipment according to quality standards and build timelines.
  • Follow detailed mechanical and electrical blueprint diagrams and complete all relevant build checklists.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, basic diagnostics, and functional testing on electrical and mechanical tool systems.
  • Document all refurbishment and maintenance activities in digital logs, tracking parts used and work performed.
  • Ensure tool readiness and assist with loading equipment for field deployment.
  • Support field technicians by preparing backup equipment and components.
  • Deliver or collect parts locally within the Calgary area as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace, ensuring all tools and parts are properly stored.
  • Actively participate in daily/weekly safety meetings, tailgate meetings, and toolbox talks.
  • Identify and report equipment issues, hazards, or near-misses immediately to the Operations Manager.
  • Safely handle shop chemicals and materials while strictly adhering to all PPE requirements.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma required.

  • Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Electrical Technology is highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on technical or electromechanical experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record meeting company eligibility requirements.
  • Valid Passport (asset; required for cross-border travel).
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, tool-handling skills, and familiarity with electronics/soldering.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate Windows and proprietary software.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly in a shop environment.
  • Forklift operation experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Highly organized, self-regulated, and takes strong pride in quality workmanship.
