Job Description
Coordinate and prepare monthly financial statements and assess assigned program operational performance against plans by providing monthly status and year-end forecast reports. Business partnering with various departments within the hospital to gain a better understanding of ongoing and planned activities is essential.
Responsibilities
- Track progress of assigned projects through budget tracking and variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain the capital planning records and funding requests made by various departments.
- Provide support to programs and services by assisting in navigating financial and non-financial data to improve operational efficiency.
- Update and maintain cash flow forecasts and portfolio forecasts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes of funds and accounts.
- Assist in the preparation and review of account reconciliations to ensure quality control and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with MIS Guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements, including note disclosures and supporting working papers required for the external audit review.
- Coordinate the external audit review of accounting systems and records.
- Ensure accounting policies used are in compliance with internal policies and MIS Guidelines.
- Support preparation of program budgets, regularly monitor and analyze variances, and report on strategies to achieve accountability to the hospital's Strategic Plan.
- Perform capital project reconciliations and prepare other required ministry submissions.
- Participate in business case preparation and tracking, including providing programs with financial and statistical support and expertise regarding costing of hospital initiatives.
- Provide strategic problem-solving and support to assigned program leaders and business units.
- Participate in projects involving the hospital and external stakeholders including budget and business intelligence tools implementations and assistance with analysis of various requests for proposal.
- Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned.
- Financial analysis, finance, and accounting proficiency.
- Experience in financial reporting and budgeting.
- SAP and ERP system expertise.
- Proficiency in Cognos budgeting and Excel, including Pivot Tables, Summifs, V lookups, Macros, and Power BI.
- Experience with auditing and evaluating controls.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills for managing conflicting deadlines.
- Full cycle accounting experience.
- CPA certification.
- Experience with Ariba and S4HANA.
- Experience with business partnering within a hospital setting.
- Ability to perform variance, balance, fixed asset, and bank reconciliation analysis.
Located in East York, Ontario, Canada. The position offers a hybrid work model with 3 days on-site and 2 days working from home, with the expectation of coming in 4 days a week during the training period. Work hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM, with a 37.5-hour work week. There are blackout periods for vacation during the first six months and from March to May for year-end activities. The role involves working closely with a team of 6 Senior Financial Analysts and might require additional hours during year-end audits. The work environment is supportive with good training, orientation, and teamwork.
