Job Title: Estimator
Report To: Estimating Manager
Placement Type: Permanent
Address: NW Edmonton
Work Location: 100% in-office
Hours: Monday to Friday
Position Overview:
- The Estimator is primarily responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and supporting the bidding process for commercial and institutional construction projects, including reviewing drawings, completing quantity take-offs, and coordinating subcontractor pricing. They work closely with senior estimators and project teams to deliver competitive tenders while maintaining detailed cost data and supporting pre-construction planning activities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for commercial and institutional construction projects
- Assist with full estimates across multiple project types, ranging in size and complexity
- Read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings and specifications, including quantity take‑offs
- Support pre‑construction planning, scope reviews, schedules, and cost plans
- Participate in the tendering process, including subcontractor pricing, bid comparisons, and clarifications
- Review contract documents and assist with understanding indirect costs, bonding, and insurance requirements
- Maintain accurate estimating data and historical cost information
- Provide detailed estimate summaries to project and operations teams
- Communicate with subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the estimating process
- Participate in client meetings and presentations as required

Must Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or technology diploma in Construction, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3–7 years of experience in estimating or a related construction role within commercial construction
- Experienced with fixed‑price tenders and budgeting for private and public sector projects
- Solid understanding of estimating techniques and construction cost drivers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel‑based estimating), estimating software and scheduling tools
