CNC Horizontal Boring Mill

We are seeking a skilled CNC Horizontal Boring Mill Machinist to join a precision manufacturing environment. This role involves setting up, programming, and operating CNC equipment to produce medium to large components with high accuracy. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC horizontal boring mills using FANUC or HEIDENHAIN controls
  • Review part specifications and confirm feasibility prior to machining
  • Ensure all tooling and setup requirements are prepared before starting production
  • Perform in-process inspections to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements
  • Monitor machine performance, including identifying irregular sounds or vibrations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency
  • Complete routine machine checks in line with preventive maintenance programs
  • Follow company procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols
  • Use overhead cranes to handle and position large components (where applicable)
  • Support and mentor junior team members as needed

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience with CNC horizontal boring mills
  • Strong familiarity with FANUC and/or HEIDENHAIN control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and tolerances
  • Experience machining medium to large precision components
  • Knowledge of Mastercam or similar CAM software
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and cutting tool selection
  • Experience with manual tools such as grinders is considered an asset
  • Overhead crane experience is preferred
  • Physically capable of handling tools and navigating a shop environment
  • Regular lifting of tools (approximately 20–30 lbs)
  • Movement throughout the facility, including stairs and shop floor access
  • Availability for day and afternoon shifts, for overtime if required
