Harbour Construction is looking for experienced Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician to join our civil construction team in Nova Scotia.

This role is built for mechanics who know heavy equipment, can diagnose problems properly, and understand the importance of keeping projects moving.

Our mechanics work both in the shop and in the field supporting excavation, underground utilities, roadbuilding, trucking, and heavy civil infrastructure operations across Nova Scotia.

Were looking for mechanics who take pride in their trade, work safely, communicate well with crews, and can be trusted to solve problems independently.

At Harbour Construction, youll work on excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, dump trucks, and other heavy construction equipment used in earthmoving, utility installation, and road building projects.

What Youll Be Doing

• Inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy civil construction equipment and heavy equipment fleets
• Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on heavy construction equipment
• Troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems using computerized diagnostic tools and software
• Rebuilding or replacing major components including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and final drives
• Responding to field service calls and equipment breakdowns on active construction sites
• Completing service reports and maintenance documentation accurately
• Supporting operators and project teams to minimize downtime and keep projects moving safely and efficiently
• Working safely in both shop and field environments while following all company safety procedures and standards

What Were Looking For

• Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification required
• Previous experience working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or Field Service Mechanic
• Experience working on heavy equipment fleets in civil construction, roadbuilding, or heavy equipment repair environments
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
• Experience working with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostics
• Ability to work independently in field conditions when required
• Valid Class 5 drivers license with clean driving record

Work Environment

This role includes both shop-based and field-based work year-round on active civil construction sites. Heavy Duty Mechanics and Heavy Equipment Technicians may work in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment, noise, vibration, mud, dust, and active construction operations. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required depending on operational needs.
