Our Markham-based client is a technology and manufacturing company specializing in advanced cooling and heat transfer solutions that improve production efficiency, preserve product quality, and reduce energy use for industrial and food processing customers. Their patented systems deliver precise temperature control and scalable performance for demanding manufacturing environments.
They are looking for a Company Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting function. You will manage the general ledger and do journal entries, compile financial reports, ensure compliance with GAAP and tax requirements, and support external audits. You will drive budgeting and forecasting, enhance internal controls and accounting processes, and provide clear insights to guide decision making. This is a hands-on role in a growing manufacturing environment where you will help scale systems as the business expands.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger and Reconciliations:
  • Own the general ledger, including entry of journal entries.
  • Lease/Sale revenue recognition accounting.
  • Perform and oversee bank, inventory, intercompany, and sub-ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain a robust month-end and year-end close process with clear checklists and timelines.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and bank reporting.
  • Analyze financial results and prepare management reports and dashboards.
  • Monitor KPIs, margins, and operating performance to assess company health and trends.

Compliance, Tax, and Audits:
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Coordinate and support external audits and reviews, preparing schedules and documentation.
  • Ensure tax compliance in coordination with external advisors where needed. Budgeting and Forecasting.
  • Lead and assist in annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasts, and cash flow planning.
  • Provide analysis to support revenue projections, COGS, operating expenses, and capital planning.

Process Improvement and Controls:
  • Develop, document, and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting workflows and reporting.
  • Support accounting system optimization to improve accuracy and speed.

Team Collaboration:
  • Partner with Operations on manufacturing costing, inventory valuation, and production variances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and growth.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Accounting designation is required or in final stages of completion.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including GAAP.
  • Proficient with accounting software. Experience with QuickBooks or similar systems is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, with strong data accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, scaling environment.

Compensation: $100,000 to $120,000, Benefits, PT.
