Position Summary

Located in our Brantford Office, this role requires the ability to work within a confidential environment, demonstrate flexibility, adapt to multiple requirements of the role, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Local travel will require access to a vehicle for client visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Involvement in the preparation and or completion of working papers, financial statements and tax returns according to Firm and regulatory standards for clients in a variety of businesses.
  • Coordination, and follow-up with the appropriate government agencies as required, of tax assignments including preparation of tax returns (T1, T2s, T4s, T5s, HST), and coordination with the tax department to ensure queries are cleared and deadlines are met.
  • Communication with clients, acquiring a strong understanding of clients businesses.
  • Ensure that all significant engagement matters are documented and brought to the attention of the Partner, as well as keeping them informed of the progress of the engagement.

Qualifications & Other Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Business
  • 3-5 years of public accounting experience, including experience with audit and review engagements.
  • Previous experience with accounting programs including Caseware, Taxprep.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to assist junior staff.
  • Outstanding client/customer service skills.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of required government taxes (payroll, consumer and other business).
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • The flexibility to work additional hours during certain months of the year.

Expected Compensation Range:

  • $40,000 - $75,000 Annually
  • Compensation within this range may vary based on the candidates skills, experience, and qualifications. In certain situations, a candidates unique background or specialized experience may warrant consideration slightly outside the posted range.
