Organizational background
The Womens Centre of Calgary is a community organization that provides a safe and supportive space accessed by thousands of women and girls in Calgary. Our mission is to be every womans place for support, connections, and community. Specifically, we connect with women looking for assistance, for opportunities to connect and/or for ways to affect change in their community.
Position overview
The Peer Support & Program Assistant will work with staff and volunteers to support women accessing basic needs, connection opportunities, and summer programs. The role focuses on peer support, program coordination assistance, and helping women navigate services in a safe, low-barrier environment.

Job duties
- Greet community members and ensure the drop-in space feels safe, inclusive, and welcoming
- Provide peer support: listening, offering information, and connecting women to staff or resources
- Assist with basic needs distribution (hygiene items, food, resources)
- Support program delivery including youth programs, arts activities, wellness sessions, and workshops
- Help maintain records such as attendance, program notes, and resource lists
- Prepare materials for programs and community events
- Support volunteers and contribute to the Womens Centre Community Building Model
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and reflection activities

Line of communication and accountability
- Reports to: Team Leads, work closely with the Programs Team
Working conditions and physical requirements
The Womens Centre is a storefront community center operating in an open environment. This role will require attendance and participation in off-site meetings and events in the community. This position requires some evening and occasional weekend work.
