About CSMC
The Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation (CSMC) is building Canadas next generation of advanced energy and aerospace technologies. Our work spans nuclear microreactors, quantum sensing, and deeptech engineering for nationalscale strategic missions.
We design hardware that must operate in extreme environments and were looking for a Manufacturing Engineer who can help turn cuttingedge designs into repeatable, certifiable, productionready systems. This role is central to our NGEN manufacturing program, supporting manufacturability, process development, and supplier readiness for pressureboundary and reactoradjacent components.
About the Role
You will bridge design engineering, supply chain, and production execution to ensure CSMCs reactor hardware can be built safely, efficiently, and at scale. This includes handson DFM for pressure vessels, welded assemblies, machined components, and highintegrity hardware, as well as supporting prototype builds, firstarticle qualification, and manufacturing readiness for NGEN milestones.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fastmoving environments, brings structure to ambiguity, and can drive manufacturability for frontier technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & DFM Execution
- Lead DFM/DFA reviews for pressureboundary components, welded assemblies, and machined parts
- Translate engineering models into manufacturable, inspectable, repeatable hardware
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and build documentation
- Support prototype builds, firstarticle inspections, and production rampup
Process Development & Quality
- Identify manufacturing risks and lead structured rootcause analysis and corrective actions
- Develop tooling, fixtures, and test setups to improve repeatability and throughput
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering on inspection plans, PFMEA, control plans, and NCR resolution
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, yield loss, and process variability
Supplier & Program Support
- Work with suppliers and CM partners to ensure manufacturability, weldability, and quality compliance
- Support NGEN deliverables related to manufacturing readiness, process capability, and supplychain qualification
- Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with safety, regulatory, and quality system requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years in manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering
- Handson experience with prototype builds, machining, fabrication, or assembly
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, tolerances, and process controls
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to operate in a fastpaced, missiondriven engineering environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defence, or other regulated manufacturing environments
- Exposure to pressure vessels, ASME BPVC, welding processes, or NDE
- Experience supporting NPI/NPD from prototype through production
- Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, and structured process qualification
- Experience with PLM, MES, or ERP systems
- Understanding of manufacturing requirements for highintegrity, safetycritical hardware
Why Join CSMC?
- Build hardware that will define Canadas future in energy, space, and national security
- Work with a worldclass team of engineers, scientists, and missiondriven innovators
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and equity participation
- A culture that values ownership, velocity, and technical excellence
