PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program ofPearson LIFT(Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canadas largest airport for the future of air travelincluding critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.
Job Summary
The Pearson Airport Construction Team (PACT) is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee daily field operations and support the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of construction activities across one of Canadas largest and most complex aviation infrastructure programs. This role is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, labour, equipment, materials, and site logistics while ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, GTAA standards, and schedule commitments. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong site presence, proactively resolving field issues, and driving construction execution in a live airport environment. Experience delivering construction projects within active airport environments, including working around operational constraints, restricted access areas, and complex stakeholder coordination requirements, is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily site construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality execution.
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors, labour forces, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain constant site presence to monitor progress, resolve issues, and uphold PACT and GTAA requirements.
- Lead daily safety briefings, enforce safety protocols, and conduct site inspections.
- Manage site logistics including laydown, access, hoarding, equipment movement, and material delivery.
- Collaborate with the Construction Manager to maintain 2-week and 6-week lookaheads and support schedule adherence.
- Identify potential delays or conflicts early and recommend corrective actions.
- Review work for compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support completion of inspections, testing, checklists, and field documentation.
- Maintain accurate daily site reports, manpower logs, progress photos, and issue tracking.
- Coordinate field interfaces with other Sub-Programs, airport operations, utilities, and GTAA stakeholders.
- Support field-level responses to RFIs, NCRs, and technical issues.
- Coordinate construction activities within active airport operations while minimizing impacts to passengers, airlines, airside operations, and surrounding stakeholders.
- Support execution of work within restricted access and operationally sensitive environments, including phased work, shutdowns, and overnight or off-hour work windows.
- Coordinate with airport authorities, operations teams, security personnel, and project stakeholders to maintain uninterrupted airport functionality
WORK CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to the Airport site as required. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday during regular office or site hours. At times, operational needs may require work outside these hours, with reasonable notice provided. All schedule or on-call adjustments will comply with
applicable employment standards legislation. It is mandatory for all employees to complete a Criminal Background check and successfully attain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC) upon joining the company
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Site Superintendent in heavy civil, aviation, electrical, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure construction.
- Previous airport construction experience within active operational environments is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing work within live operational environments with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field coordination, and subcontractor management.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and experience leading work in high-risk environments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, or restricted work windows as required by airport operations.
- Experience working in airside environments, restricted access zones, or secure facilities is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with GTAA procedures, airport stakeholder coordination, or RAIC-controlled environments is considered an advantage.
