CNC Machinist

We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist on behalf of our client in the Guelph area. This is for an existing role. The wage is $31-$35/hr based upon experience.

Job Duties:

• Set up and operate the following: Gantry/Bridge Mill, TOS Horizontal Boring Mill.
• Verify CNC programs.
• Work with large complex fabricated components, where material variation and conditions require an analytical approach to machining of product.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances and have excellent understanding of technical drawings.
• Experience with complex set-ups and use of overhead crane.
• Read machining drawings in metric and standard.
• Prove out CNC programs and perform first part run-offs.
• Read and understand manual CNC programs to modify and edit as needed.
• Optimize CNC programs, feeds, and speeds.
• Perform first-off inspection of machined parts to ensure part compliance.
• Identify, select, prepare, and set cutting tools.
• Machine higher complexity parts with a wide range of different materials.

Requirements:

• Experience with CNC custom one-off machining of large fabrications, including machine setup and operation of CNC Boring Mills.
• Excellent programming knowledge of Heidenhain Controls.
• General machinist certification is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, charts, and tables.
• Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
• Experience working in a custom fabrication and machine shop.
