Our Raiseboring division is currently looking for Raisebore Supervisor, Operators, Helpers, Electrician's and Mechanics for multiple projects in British Columbia and Ontario. The rotation is dependent on the job site but will be mostly 14 x 14 or 20 x 10.

A Raisebore Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of raise boring equipment to drill vertical or inclined openings in underground mining and civil engineering projects. The operator ensures proper setup, alignment, and maintenance of drilling equipment while adhering to safety regulations and project specifications.

The successful candidate would be qualified and responsible for operating various raisebore drills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Operation:
    • Operate raiseboring drills to create vertical and inclined shafts.
    • Monitor drilling parameters, adjusting settings to optimize performance.
    • Conduct pilot hole drilling and ensure reaming accuracy.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and mining regulations.
    • Perform pre-operational checks and safety inspections.
    • Ensure proper ground control measures are followed.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
    • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
    • Identify and report mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Work closely with engineers, surveyors, and supervisors to meet project goals.
    • Maintain detailed logs of drilling activities and progress.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years operating experience with medium capacity drill
  • Possess large diameter reaming experience (3 meters)
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude
  • Possess working knowledge of hydraulics systems
  • Capable of reading layouts, charts, prints and schematics
  • Possess rigging certificate and/or knowledge of rigging
  • Must possess Ontario Common Core and Raisebore Specialty Module
  • Must be willing to travel, work on a rotational basis and work shift work including day and night shift.

The company will pay for travel to and from the project.

We offer competitive wages starting at $48-70/hr depending on experience. Thyssen also offers medical/dental benefits, Life, AD&D insurance and an RSP contribution.
