Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. Our team has a project ongoing inLunenburg, NSand is expected to run through all of 2026. We are looking to hire qualified individuals that live within a reasonable commute to our jobsite to join our team for the duration of the project.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience operating an excavator.
  • Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Valid class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks.
  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work as required.
  • Use the excavator to load trucks with soil, gravel and other materials.
  • Excavate precise trenches for utilities, drainage systems, and foundations.
  • Perform rough grading and leveling as necessary.
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.
  • Other duties as required.
