Job Description:

We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Caregivers for clients with acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, and behavioural or cognitive support needs. • Monitor clients' physical and behavioural condition, reporting any changes.
  • Document all care provided accurately and promptly.
  • Facilitate physical, recreational, social, and educational activities.

  • Recognize and respond to crisis and emergency situations appropriately.
  • Ensure safe transportation practices, including possessing a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Provide input on client scheduling and program development.
  • Operate office equipment and report any maintenance issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of fire and emergency procedures.
  • Follow trauma-informed care principles and contribute to a positive, stable environment for clients who may exhibit frustration, impulsivity, or emotional dysregulation.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions:

  • May be exposed to infection, tobacco smoke, domestic pets, and behaviourally complex clients, including those who may exhibit verbal aggression, irritability, or unpredictable behaviour.
  • Must be able to handle the working environment changes from one residential and/or community setting to the next.

Experience & Qualifications

Education: Minimum one-year PSW Certificate or equivalent, or currently enrolled.

Experience:

  • Minimum one year of direct experience in in-home personal care or community-based home care.
  • Experience with clients with acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, mental health, or addictions is an asset.
  • Experience working with individuals who present behavioural challenges, emotional dysregulation, or require consistent routine and redirection is strongly preferred.

  • Awareness of behavioural supports, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive during behavioural escalations or moments of client frustration.

Conditions of Employment
