Overview:
The company's Senior Superintendent is accountable for the planning, coordination, and execution of all on-site construction activities, with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role provides day-to-day leadership in managing the construction site, ensuring field operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives and the company's commitment to sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong safety leadership on site
- Monitor safety performance of subcontractors and the company's own forces
- Plan, schedule, and control daily construction activities
- Ensure projects are constructed in accordance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee quality of workmanship and building materials
- Ensure sufficient manpower and resources to meet safety, schedule, and quality targets
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors, trades, and site staff
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, engineers, and subcontractors
- Lead site meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure construction
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction with a general contractor
- Proven experience in a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent capacity on large-scale projects
- Experience managing ICI construction projects valued over CAD $30M
- Strong knowledge of concrete works, earthworks, and mechanical and electrical systems (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team management skills
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational abilities
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); bilingual candidates are an asset
- Customer-focused and results-oriented mindset
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain security clearances
Education & Certifications (Preferred):
- Journeyman trade certification in carpentry (highly regarded)
- Degree or diploma in a construction-related program
- Gold Seal Certification (GSC), Project Management Professional (PMP), or LEED AP considered assets
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Bluebeam or similar construction software
