Role Summary
The Jr. Embryologists play a critical role in supporting the embryology laboratory and fertility team in
delivering high-quality reproductive care. This position involves assisting in laboratory procedures related to
assisted reproductive technologies (ART), including handling gametes and embryos, maintaining lab
standards, and ensuring accurate documentation. The Jr. Embryologists work collaboratively with physicians,
senior embryologists, nurses, and clinical staff to support optimal patient outcomes while maintaining
professionalism, precision, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Role Responsibilities
Assist senior embryologists and physicians in performing laboratory procedures related to IVF, ICSI,
and other assisted reproductive technologies
Handle and process gametes (sperm and oocytes) and embryos under strict laboratory protocols
Support procedures such as sperm preparation, oocyte identification, fertilization checks, and
embryo culture
Maintain proper culture conditions, monitor incubators, and ensure quality control of laboratory
equipment
Prepare and label culture media, lab supplies, and instruments in accordance with established
protocols
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, infection control, and regulatory guidelines
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including patient data, procedures performed,
and outcomes
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure seamless coordination of
patient treatment cycles
Participate in quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities within the lab
Assist in cryopreservation (freezing) and thawing procedures for sperm, oocytes, and embryos under
supervision
Support inventory management and ensure adequate stock of laboratory supplies
Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in handling sensitive patient information
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Formal Education or Equivalent
Formal Education or Equivalent
Bachelors degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field
Certification or training in Embryology or Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is an asset
Certifications (Preferred)
Membership or eligibility for professional organizations such as the Canadian Fertility and
Andrology Society (CFAS) is an asset
WHMIS and laboratory safety certifications preferred
Experience
02 years of experience in an embryology or IVF laboratory setting (co-op/internship experience
considered)
Basic knowledge of reproductive biology and laboratory techniques
Familiarity with ART procedures such as IVF, ICSI, and cryopreservation is an asset.
