Paladin Security is hiring Casual Security Officers to support local events and ad hoc coverages in Halifax, NS!
As a Security Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and security of sites, staff, and visitors in a dynamic environment.

Full-Time | On-Site | $15.70/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol: Conduct regular rounds of, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist site staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to site policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Enforce Site Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
Requirements
- Eligible to obtain a Security License for Nova Scotia
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (CSA-approved vendor)
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, could include days, overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to perform physical duties (patrolling, standing, walking, responding to incidents)
- High school diploma / GED
- Current certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
(Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position – Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability)
- Previous experience in security, or customer service
- Experience monitoring surveillance systems (CCTV, alarms)
- Additional language skills (French, etc.) an asset
