About the role
We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Firm Operations team in our downtown Vancouver office and play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and operations of the firm. In this high-impact role, you'll work directly with the Director of Finance and partner with leaders across departments, gaining unique exposure to the business behind the numbers while driving key financial processes and strategic decision-making.
If you're passionate about accounting but also want to broaden your operational knowledge and skills, this role offers the chance to work closely with leadership, contribute meaningful ideas, and help shape how the firm operates. You'll support the financial engine behind a busy practice of 35+ Partners, driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organization.
How You'll Make a Difference
- Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for reliable decision-making.
- Prepare clear, accurate financial statements and reports for partners and senior management to enable confident strategic planning.
- Manage and reconcile the general ledger, prepaid journals, and related analysis to keep financial records precise and audit-ready.
- Oversee accounts payable operations, negotiate vendor terms, and approve invoices and expenses to maintain steady cash flow.
- Monitor firm-wide collections and cash flow, collaborating with external collections agents when needed.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process by gathering departmental inputs and assisting with preparation for firm-wide planning.
- Manage insurance policies and legal requirements to ensure compliance and protect the firm's interests.
- Prepare working papers, year-end financial statements, and both partnership and corporate tax returns.
- Review semi-monthly payroll for accuracy, ensuring timely and compliant employee compensation.
- Lead special finance projects, including transitioning accounts payable software and migrating from NAV On-Premise to Business Central Cloud.
Here, your contributions matter. From budgeting and reporting to process optimization and leading special projects like software transitions and system migrations, you'll play a central role in advancing the firm's financial operations. You'll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values initiative, critical thinking, and innovation giving you the opportunity to grow your skills and make a lasting impact.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or equivalent.
- CPA designation (or equivalent) is a strong asset.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to month-end, year-end, and budgeting processes.
- Experience overseeing AP and supporting payroll is a strong asset.
- Proficient in Excel (XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and print-friendly formatting).
- Experience with Power Query is an asset; SQL knowledge is a plus.
