Job Description

We are seeking a highly capable and driven Branch Director to lead our Kelowna operations.

The Branch Director will be responsible for the full operational, financial, and people leadership of the Kelowna branch. This includes overseeing construction and service teams, administration, sales, and customer service while aligning with regional and national strategic objectives. The role demands strong business acumen, a passion for team development, and a commitment to safety and service excellence.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the branch with a strong safety-first mindset, reinforcing a culture of safety and respect.
  • Provide P&L ownership, including revenue forecasting, cost control, job profitability analysis, and SG&A management.
  • Develop and execute local business plans in alignment with regional growth strategies.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams across service, construction, sales, and administration.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with other branches and internal departments.
  • Develop business cases to support new resource hires, capital expenses or market development initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and profitable growth objectives.

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive strategic market discovery and growth initiatives within the Okanagan region.
  • Generate and oversee RFP responses for both construction and service proposals.
  • Lead the local sales team, developing sales pipelines and strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Support customer retention by ensuring high standards of service and customer experience.
  • Leads business development and estimating efforts where needed to complement the sales team and ensure full coverage of growth opportunities.

Operational Execution & Optimization

  • Oversee and continuously improve field delivery, job costing, WIP adjustments, dispatch, billing, and scheduling processes.
  • Utilize performance data (e.g., departmental profitability, technician utilization, CRM data) to drive operational efficiency.
  • Leverage tools such as ERP, Procore, ServiceTrade, and E-Compliance to enhance field service performance.

People & Culture

  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent across all disciplines including technicians, sales, and project management.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and succession planning to build a high-performance team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with employees while adhering to local labor regulations.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, training, and team-building events.

Health & Safety

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to all CFLS business units and employees with respect to health and safety.
  • Ensuring timely submission of CFLS teams safety documentation.
  • Participation is CFLS safety committee as may be required from time to time.
  • Ensuring safety certification requirements & training for branch team members are current and sufficient.
  • Ensuring all safety documentation required for your position, and your team is always submitted and kept up to date.
  • Suggesting improvements to the CFLS safety policy and manual.
  • Assisting in the development of safe work practices for the Service business unit as may be identified or required.
  • A key member of the leadership team when maintaining and developing CFLS certifications.
  • Assisting with the preparations of risk assessments as may be requested or required. Such risk assessments must be conducted in conjunction with other staff, supervisors, and safety team.
  • Reporting injuries or illnesses arising from workplace activities using the appropriate CFLS forms and SOP as soon as possible after the incident and in accordance with the requirements of the applicable workers compensation legislation.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure branch operations comply with NFPA, ULC, and local building/fire codes.
  • Champion quality assurance and safety compliance, embedding continuous improvement in all workflows.
  • Serve as a visible leader in upholding regulatory standards and customer-centric policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years in a leadership role within fire protection or a similar service and construction-based industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams including field technicians, sales, and administration.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA, ULC, CAN/ULC, and relevant local building and fire codes.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP platforms and field service management tools.
  • Background in sales, business development, or proposal generation is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with unionized work environments and local labor practices is preferred.
