Job Summary:
Our Toronto office is seeking an experienced and motivated Building Science Project Manager to lead building envelope restoration projects, reserve fund studies, and building condition assessments from initial investigation through design, contract administration, and completion. Responsibilities include preparing detailed reports and specifications, developing accurate cost estimates, and overseeing on-site construction reviews to ensure quality and compliance. The role also involves coordinating with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver practical, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions.

The Building Science team in Toronto is recognized for delivering innovative and reliable results for both new and existing buildings across residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. Areas of expertise include the assessment, repair, and replacement of roofing systems, façades, glazing systems, waterproofing, and other building envelope components. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team dedicated to improving the performance, durability, and value of the buildings served.
Typical Duties
- Conduct site investigations and evaluations of existing building and structures
- Prepare technical reports for the investigation and assessment of various building envelope failures or issues
- Develop restoration strategies and present viable rehabilitation scenarios for the client
- Develop building envelope design drawings and specifications
- Conduct 3rd party review of building envelope design documents and shop drawings
- Develop structural, thermal and hygrothermal models
- Manage building envelope projects from conceptual design to completion
- Previous experience managing junior and intermediate team members
- Prepare financial studies/life cycle costing for buildings
- Coordinate with other engineering and architectural disciplines
- Perform contract administration/construction review while implementing work
- Develop and maintain client base
You will be a great fit if you have:
- A completed post-secondary program degree in applied science or engineering from an accredited University
- Registered as a Professional Engineer within the Province of Ontario (P. Eng.)
- Minimum 10 years previous experience in building science; experience in consulting or contracting firm preferred
- Experience with concrete and masonry restoration, roofing, waterproofing, cladding and glazing upgrades, etc.
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; including technical writing
- Ability to work with and manage a design team while working on multiple projects at the same time
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
- Computer literate and proficient in the use of relevant computer applications, including developed skills in Word, and Excel.
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Good academic understanding of building envelope design and building envelope behaviors; familiar with building codes and standards
- Willingness to work on site and deal with Contractors
- Work on some projects may have to be done outside of core hours. The project team may be required to adjust work hours to suit specific projects as needed.
